Not related to the auction, but there was a short article about Dave in the latest issue of The Comics Journal:
"April 25: David Pirkola, the owner of Apparitions Comics and Books, was shot in April during a robbery at his store in Grand Rapids, Mich. Pirkola was critically wounded and remained in intensive care for sevral days after being shot in the chest, reportedly by a group of three men who have since been arrested by local police. He was slated to return home from the hospital in June, but his lack of health insurance has left him with medical bills that place an extra burden on his recovery and rehabilitation. Did they really catch all three of the shooters? I thought they just caught two.
I hadn't heard that the last shooter was caught. I thought he was still hiding out. I'll look into it.
